NSW: Main stories in today's Sydney newspapers=4

THE AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL REVIEW:

Page 1: The federal government's tax review could include an overhaul of how mining
companies are taxed, replacing state-imposed royalties with national resource rent taxes.

Page 3: In a move not seen before in Australia, increased storm severity and rising
sea levels caused by climate change have prompted Victoria's Civil and Administrative
Tribunal to halt development plans for six coastal homes.

World: The world's largest steel maker, ArcelorMittal, has put off plans to take a
majority stake in China Oriental Group after failing to win approval for the move from
the Chinese government, which doesn't want a foreign steel maker controlling a domestic
producer.

Markets: News of a US-led takeover bid of Australia's biggest rail and port owner,
Asciano, buoyed infrastructure stocks on the market yesterday.
