NSW: Workers on alert for mass action on May 29th

The Transport Workers' Union says it will bring central Sydney to a halt this week
with a blockade by more than 200 trucks, vans and other industrial vehicles protesting
against WorkCover legislation.

And the main union body in New South Wales has warned of state-wide industrial chaos
at the resumption of parliament late next month, if the state government refuses to amend
its proposed workers compensation laws.

Labor Council Secretary MICHAEL COSTA issued the threat on Friday in front of hundreds
of workers marking the International Day of Mourning for people killed in the workplace.

Five hundred workers marched through Sydney streets, led by two workers in wheelchairs
and three others carrying coffins.

A huge banner was unveiled on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, bearing the slogan Hands Off
Workers Comp.
