ALBANY - No one told Candace King Weir 34 years ago how difficult it would be to strike out on her own and start a boutique investment advisory firm.

Today, her C.L. King & Associates Inc. continues in Albany. Although it has kept a low profile, it's now starting to brag about its performance.

Its Paradigm Capital Management Inc., which has the region's only fund with a five-star rating from Morningstar, hired a new chief operating officer, Charles J. DiVencenzo Jr., in February.

Today, C.L. King and Paradigm "are probably one of Albany's best-kept secrets," Weir said.
