Ferrari is about to approve a front-engine, V-8 spider which could sell for [euro]120,000-[euro]130,000, company insiders say.
The car would be derived from the next-generation Maserati Spyder, originally planned for debut in September at the IAA in Frankfurt.
At next month's Geneva show, Ferrari will unveil a spider version of its new F430, expected to cost more than [euro]165,000.
A less expensive car such as the Maserati-based spider, dubbed "California" at headquarters in Maranello, could boost Ferrari output past last year's record of almost 5,000 units to 7,500-8,000 units.
